What is herpes?
Herpes is a virus, specifically "herpesvirus hominus". The two main types of the virus are Simplex 1(HSV1) infects the mouth (cold sores) and Simplex 2 (HSV2) infects the genital tract.

It is estimated that a large majority of humans will experience oral or genital herpes. Herpes infects the nerve cells of the spinal cord (genital herpes) and the nerves at the base of the brain (oral herpes). The virus is contagious.

Cold Sores
Cold sores on the lip are not only unsightly, they´re contagious! Caused by the herpes simplex virus, cold sores are painful and make even the most confident person feel uncomfortable.

Now there is non-prescription therapy you can use to help put a stop to getting a cold sore when you first feel the symptoms of tingling or burning; or nip that one in the bud you found yourself with when you awoke this morning.

Don´t forget that cold sores are highly contagious until the scab is gone, so do not kiss, share glassware and by all means, wash your hands frequently to prevent spreading this infection.
